The application site is situated off Silverdale Street and is presently occupied by Belvidere Bowling Club, which has been running since 1861. The club has two separate bowling greens, separated in the centre by a single storey pavilion club house. Over the last few years, and for varying reasons including dwindling member numbers, the club only utilise one of the two bowling greens, and in order to safeguard the future of the club, they decided to offer the unused bowling green for sale in order to raise funds and protect a century’s old institution.
The area itself has seen residential development and regeneration in recent years, partly thanks to the Commonwealth games and the nearby Athletes Village, and as such has become a sought after residential area. This project seeks to develop part of the bowling club into 24 no. flats for our client working alongside Parkhead Housing Association. The proposals are contained within one four-storey block, with 6 no. flats per floor, using a mix of one and two bedroom units and includes on-site resident parking.
